Monday, October 30, 2023, at 17 at Abbadia di Fiastra (urbisaglia), will take place the conference “No Future without Memory: from Digital to the Stories”.
At the Conference, organized by Casa della Memoria di Urbisaglia, we will discuss and compare various experiences of digitization of historical documents, in particular those regarding civil internment in the years of the Second World War.
Speakers will be Carlo Spartaco Capogreco (Professor of Contemporary History UNICAL); Riccardo Ciliberti (Archivist – State Archives of Macerata); Andrea Giuseppini (Editor of campifascisti.it); Anna Krecik (Curator of the Museo della Risiera di San Sabba – Trieste); Marzia Luppi (Director of the Fossoli Foundation); Giovanna Salvucci (President of Casa della Memoria di Urbisaglia) and Giodano Viozzi (President of Casa della Memoria di Servigliano).
During the event Andrea Polini and Michele Loreti (Professors of Computer Science, UNICAM) will present the project “Digitization and Memory”.
The project has so far allowed the digital scanning and the creation of metadata of ca. 6,700 documents kept at the State Archives of Macerata.
The digitization, realized by UNICAM students, was carried out using the BooKeeper system developed by the UNICAM startup and spin-off Knoway Systems srl.
Considering the importance of establishing a dialogue between similar online archives, the Conference will be preceded by a meeting between the representatives of the other internment camps to build a network with the aim of widening participation and to identify forms of collaboration for documentation activities, conservation and enhancement of the places of Remembrance.
