This year we will celebrate the Holocaust Remembrance Day by presenting the projects of our Association to students of the University of Camerino. The event will be held Monday, January 27, 2025, at 17.00 at the university campus, in via A. D’Accorso 16.
After greetings from Graziano Leoni, Rector of the University of Camerino and Giovanna Salvucci, President of the Casa della Memoria of Urbisaglia, prof. Michele Loreti will give a talk entitled “The Casa della Memoria project and the contribution of UNICAM” and prof. Andrea Polini with a report on “AI and the Casa della Memoria: when technology supports historical research”.
There will also be an online connection with Dario, Daniele and Elio, sons of Renzo Cabib (Livorno 1915-2004), interned in the Urbisaglia camp from July 1940 to March 1942, mathematics teacher and president of the Jewish Community of Livorno from 1958 to 1974.
For the Cabib family, science has always been a family matter: the eldest Dario holds a PhD in physics, Daniele in chemistry, and Elio is an associate professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Udine.
In addition to the meeting in Camerino, the Casa della Memoria di Urbisaglia will participate in the following meetings, during which president Giovanna Salvucci will remember the figures of some Jewish internees in the Urbisaglia camp:

Monday 27 January 2025, at 9.00 pm at the Municipal Theater of Urbisaglia, Dr. Maurizio Pincherle will present “Two Jewish doctors under persecution. War diaries (1938-1945)”. The event is organized by the Anpi “Augusto Pantanetti” of Urbisaglia, in collaboration with the Municipality of Urbisaglia.
Furthermore, in the council room of the Municipality of Urbisaglia, from 4 pm on Saturday 25 January you can visit the temporary exhibition on the Epistolary: “Correspondence from the Urbisaglia internment camp”, curated by Roberto Cruciani.
