The Annual General Meeting of the Associazione Casa della Memoria di Urbisaglia ETS was held online on april 26 to discuss, among other things, the 2022 Balance Sheet and the moral report of the Board of Directors on the activity carried out in the year 2022.
After an intense and highly participated collective discussion, from which came ideas and proposals for the future of the Association, the Assembly unanimously approved both the 2022 Balance Sheet and the 2023 Budget, illustrated by the treasurer Domenico Mucci.
The President Giovanna Salvucci subsequently reported on the steps followed to the foundation of the Association and stressed that the efforts were immediately concentrated in the realization of the Project “Digitalization and Memory” which provides for the digitization and metadata of documents relating to the internment camp of Urbisaglia kept at the State Archives of Macerata.
The priority given to this project lies in the fact that one of the fundamental purposes of the Association is precisely to promote research on the history of the Urbisaglia camp to reconstruct the events of those who were detained there. In order to stimulate research, therefore, it was considered necessary to build a database to allow the consultation of documents in real time to scholars from anywhere in the world.
The Project has been developed thanks to a series of meetings that involved, in addition to the members of the Board, Dr Fausta Pennesi (director of the State Archives of Macerata), but also Marzia Luppi (director of the Fossoli Foundation), Andrea Polini (University of Camerino), Sara Morici (Macerata University Library Centre) and Marika Losi (Fossoli Foundation Archivist).
The Project, which has obtained a first funding of € 10,000.00 from the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Macerata, has already been launched under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Polini of the University of Camerino.
The President also announced that a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Associazione Casa della Memoria di Urbisaglia ETS and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia di Macerata in which the Foundation, where it considers the projects of the Association worthy of acceptance and compatible with its Rules of Institutional Activity, undertakes to support them economically to the extent that it deems appropriate within the limits of budget availability.
The President also recalled that, thanks to the University of Camerino, the new website urbisagliamemoria.org is online, together with Instagram and Facebook account. A PayPal account has been activated for the collection of membership fees and any donations in support of the activities of the Association.
